Shabna will talk about her book, “From Sylhet to Spitalfields: Bengali Squatters in 1970s East London

Dr Shabna Begum is author of ‘From Sylhet to Spitalfields: Bengali Squatters in 1970s East London’. She completed her doctorate, upon which the book is based at QMUL and remains an honorary research fellow with the School of Geography. She is currently interim CEO of the Runnymede Trust, one of the UK’s leading race equality think tanks and has led and supported on a number of their projects around housing, criminal justice and education. She was a secondary school teacher for over 20 years and taught Politics and Sociology.
